Domain name (your custom web address, www.YourName.com)
Website Hosting (A place to store your website)
To build a website, you’ll need to secure a domain name (such as www.christinejeffersart.com) and a web hosting account. These two make sure that your website is fully accessible to others via their web browsers.
My domain name is www.35thStreetMedia.com and yours can be anything. Don’t worry if your preferred domain name is already taken, because there are a billion other possibilities that are still available. Get creative
If your business is a non-for-profit you want to use a .org extention rather than .com which is used for commercial business.
Domain names can cost anywhere from $10 to $50 a year. The usual price tag is around $15/year.
Your websites color scheme and fonts should match your companies branding. It should display your logo (If you don’t have one I can help with that too) and the following essential pages.
Homepage – the first page that your visitors see when they go to your website
About page – a page explaining what your website is about
Photos page – a page with photos of your business or products
Blog page – a listing of your most recent blog posts
Services page – use this page to showcase your services
Creating a blog page is important to keep your website updated
The blog page is where the listing of your most recent blog posts can be found. Posting a blog in Wix is similar to using a word processing app. It’s very easy to add photos and videos amongst your text.
Blogs do not have to be lengthy, you can use the blog page as a place for your company news and announcements. Check out my web blog with short blogs about wine. www.WindyCityWineGeek.com
Now you need to drive traffic to your site. Blog posts should be shared on social media to drive people to your site
